- Hadith 529. Narrated Ibn ‘Umar رضى الله عنهما: I heard Allâh’s Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم saying, “Fast when you see the new moon, and break your fast when you see it; but if the sky is cloudy, calculate (the month as 30 days).” [Agreed upon]. Muslim has: “If it is cloudy, calculate (the month as) thirty days.” Al‑Bukhâri has: “Complete the number (of days) as thirty.” Al-Bukhari reported the Hadith of Abû Huraira رضى الله عنه : “Complete the number of (the month of) Sha‘bân as thirty days.”
