Uncluttering The Car
- This Week’s Unclutter Assignment #1: The Interior
When uncluttering a car, take everything out. Start on one side and work around to the other.
Sort items into these piles: 1–keep, 2–give away, 3–doesn’t belong in the car, 4–trash.
Pile #1: This should only contain things you need and love such as Islamic listening materials for car trips.
Pile #2: If you have things in your car that you want to give to someone else, place those items in a box and label it. Store it in the house along with the other things you have been collecting to give away as part of your Ramadhan Unclutter Project.
Pile #3: Remove any items that don’t belong such as cups, forks, spoons, clothing, toys, books, etc. Place them in a box to take inside the house.
Pile #4: Toss trash in a plastic grocery bag.
Now, restock your car with items from Pile #1.
Car Glove Box Organizer

Store everything you need for the road in a small accordion-file folder, vehicle registration and insurance information, emergency contact numbers, maps, and directions (file them instead of having to rewrite them every time). –Martha Stewart
- Be sure to store your vehicle’s maintenance records as well. You can even stash a few “emergency” dollars and coins too.
This Week’s Unclutter Assignment #2: The Trunk
The method for uncluttering the trunk is similar to the interior: take everything out.
Sort items into these piles: 1–keep, 2–give away, 3–doesn’t belong in the car, 4–trash.
Use the same procedure as with the interior of the car. Now, restock your car with items from Pile #1.
Car Trunk Organizer

Arrange trunk supplies in a heavy-duty container that has handles. This will keep items from rolling around when you make those sharp turns and sudden stops. Stock your trunk bin with paper towels, first-aid supplies, flares, duct tape, flat repair, jumper cables, extra oil, etc. Also consider packing a bag with food and water and other supplies in case you break down. –Martha Stewart

After you do tidy up the inside of the car, its time to handle the outside. The goal of all this cleaning is to have an automobile that you’ll feel happy to transport others in during Ramadhaan.
Once again, make your intentions to please Allah. Then schedule time to clean. Write it in your planner, on your calendar, or set a reminder on your mobile device.
