Moon Sightings for Ramadhan

According to both Sh. Dr. Saleh as-Saleh (may Allah’s mercy be upon him) of Understand-Islam.net and Shaikh Mohammad Al-Malki people are to follow the moon sighting where they reside (your local community) and not from some other country.

Listen to Sh. al-Malki explain this: Jumua Khutbah (Jul 27, 2011) –WizIQ. You will need an account to listen to WizIQ; the khutbah has not yet been uploaded to the shaikh’s website Ilm for All. The first part of the khutbah is in Arabic. At about the mid-way point, the English translation begins.

Before entering Ramadhan, remove innovation, incorrect beliefs, and shirk from your heart! Doing so will make your worships during Ramadhan easy for you!

How does not committing innovation make worship easy?

Meet-Ups Help with Ramadhan Prep

It is an excellent idea to find a partner as you get prepared for Ramadhaan. The “meet-up” does not have to be in person; it can be over the telephone or internet (thru emails, chat, etc.).

The most important thing, is to find a willing buddy — or two or three. This helps people get motivated and focused. So, invite someone over to talk about and plan your Ramadhan!

Here is what one sister did:

“. . . so last night I met up with a dear sister and we discussed our preparation for this coming Ramadan. We discussed preparation before Ramadan starts and our goals during Ramadan. I felt that it was extremely productive and I feel so ready for Ramadan now…alhamdulillah. So, I thought I’d share what we discussed with you all so that it may insha’Allah give you ideas for your own Ramadan preparation. “

So, plan that meet-up: get out that address book and a calendar! Take your Ramadhan Control Journal along.

If you do a meet-up with some friends, drop a comment about how it went!

Sample Schedule/Plan your Ramadhaan days and nights

One of the easiest ways to stay organized during Ramadhaan is to create a Ramadhaan Management Schedule.

Print out one of the daily planners. There are several to choose from so select the one that best matches your lifestyle and personal style.

Before getting started, think about how you want to spend your days, evenings, and nights during the month.

Plan until Saturday only. This will keep you from getting overwhelmed. Then, each Saturday print and plan your days for the following week(s). Keep doing this each Saturday thru the end of Ramadhaan.

Remember to do it the Flylady way. Set a time limit for each activity. Use a timer to keep you on track. If you don’t have a kitchen timer, go to this website  Online-Stopwatch. Click on “Count Down”. Then click on the numbers 1-5-0-0. This will set the online timer for 15 minutes. Turn the computer speakers up high enough for you to hear the alarm and get to boogeying!
