ᴥ Keep Up the Auto You may have been putting extra miles on your vehicle during Ramadhan. In this hot weather make sure you have emergency supplies in the trunk, and checking fluid levels and other maintenance-related issues often.

Finances for Charity and ‘Eid
School supplies are on sale (in the US and Canada) in July. Purchasing for needy children won’t be a wallet buster allowing you to serve more families.

And yes, It’s time to think about ‘Eid! What’s your budget like for the necessities? Have you figured in help those who are less fortunate?

Stay Hydrated   We’re serious about this water thing! It is too hot plus you’re fasting 16+ hours daily! Stay hydrated! Drink plenty of water once you’ve broken your fast!

Know what dehydration looks like by reading: Signs of Dehydration

Explain the importance of water to your children (during a time of the day when they are not fasting) with this Healthy Hydration Lessons & Activity Pack {HERE}.

ᴥ Infused Water
Turn ordinary water into a real treat. Add any of the following to your next glass or pitcher of water:

  • whole or crushed fruit: 1-2 berries or citrus slices per glass
  • unsweetened juice: grape, cranberry, pomegranate to taste
  • vegetables: cucumber slice or two per glass
  • fresh herbs: crush mint or basil leaves then add to the water

Gently squish/bruise the fruit or herbs before adding them to the water. It releases their flavors.

ᴥ The Etiquettes of Water ᴥ
The Prophet left us with examples of how to behave when drinking water and other beverages:

  • say Bismillah before drinking
  • don’t drink from the mouth of containers
  • don’t drink from the chipped side of a cup
  • don’t breathe into or blow onto a pot or cup
  • drink sweet water (add honey or other sweet item to or soak dates in water overnight and drink)

Question #1 of 3   Is it permissible for one who wishes to perform the i’tikaaf to specify a particular day itself for i’tikaaf?

Answer Response: It is not for him to specify a particular day itself within which to regularly perform i’tikaaf, rather, he should take care to perform i’tikaaf in the last ten (days and nights) of Ramadhaan in accordance with (the guidance of) the Prophet (sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam).

And with Allaah lies all success, and may Allaah send prayers and salutations upon our Prophet Muhammad (sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam) and his family and his companions.

Question #2 of 3 ᴥ Is it correct for one who is in the state of i’tikaaf to teach someone or (even) give a lecture?

ᴥ Answer ᴥ That which is better is for the one in the state of i’tikaaf to busy himself with specific acts of worship such as dhikr (remembrance of Allaah), prayer, reading the Qur.aan and that which is similar. However, if there is a need to teach someone or to learn, then there is no harm in this as this is (also) from the remembrance of Allaah.

ᴥ Question #3 of 3 ᴥ Is it permissible for a woman to perform i’tikaaf at the place of prayer in her home?

ᴥ Answer ᴥ No. If a woman wishes to perform i’tikaaf, then she should do so in a masjid, so long as there is no danger in that (such as free-mixing and complacency regarding the hijaab, etc). (However), if there is any danger in that, then she should not perform i’tikaaf.
